McDonald's brings back Szechuan sauce for one day only
Today and today only, some McDonald's locations across the nation, including three in New Jersey, are offering a taste of a dipping sauce mentioned in an Adult Swim cartoon.
Rick and Morty, created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, follows the titular characters -- based on Doc Brown and Marty McFly from 'Back to the Future' -- on their adventures through space, alternate realities and the great unknown.
In the premiere of season three, the mad scientist Rick is forced to relive some memories of 1998 and longs for the Szechuan McDonald's sauce created to promote the release of Disney's "Mulan" film.
Months after the episode aired, McDonald's sent Roiland a jug of the sauce.
The sauce is available for dine-in only at select locations starting at 2 p.m. and requires purchase of "buttermilk crispy tenders." Several other McDonald's locations are giving away posters as well.
- Haddon Ave And Federal St., Camden
- 186-194 3rd Avenue, Paterson
- 188 Springfield Ave, Newark
